Nowogród Bobrzański is a town in Lubusz Voivodeship and Zielona Góra County.

History

The present-day town was established within its current administrative boundaries on 1 January 1988 through the merger of Nowogród Bobrzański and Krzystkowice. The two former settlements have different histories.

Nowogród Bobrzański was first mentioned in 1202. A castellany settlement developed near a river crossing and on the road between Żagań and Zielona Góra.

The historic settlement of Krzystkowice was laid out on a C-shaped plan with an irregular quadrilateral market square; part of the market square has survived to this day.
