Culture and History

The Orthodox parish church of FiniÈ™ dates back to 1848. The FiniÈ™ Village Museum contains a traditional loom from 1928. It is a small museum set up in a household inherited by its owner from their grandparents. Its rooms are designed in a style typical of the Land of BeiuÈ™ and the wider region; the museum is located in the Land of BeiuÈ™.

The Cetatea din Finiș fortress dates from the 13th to 14th centuries. The Valea Finișului is known for the ruins of Cetatea Finiș, located on a peak at the edge of the village of Finiș. Cetatea Finiș is a medieval refuge and defensive fortress accessible from only one side.

Nature and Landscape

Within the municipality of Finiș, part of the municipal forest holdings overlaps with the ROSCI0042 Codru Moma Natura 2000 protected area. In the Valea Finișului, wooded slopes of Codru Moma lie on both sides of the road; a river flows between them, so the road, slopes and riverbed appear as separate elements of the valley landscape.

Religious Sites

Schitul Huta was established in 1998 in the Valea Finișului valley under the protection of Stâna de Vale Monastery and is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. The church of Schitul Huta was built in 1927 and restored in 1973 by Bishop Vasile Coman. Schitul Huta is located on the left side of the forest road leading from Finiș through the Valea Finișului and about 12 km from the town center. Access to Schitul Huta is via DJ764F from Beiuș toward Finiș (4 km), followed by 12 km along a forest road to Schitul Huta.

Getting There and Geographical Context

The municipality of Finiș is mainly accessible via county road DJ 764 Beiuș–Finiș–Stâncești, which connects the locality with Beiuș, approximately 6 km away. From Beiuș, Finiș can be reached via the connection to national road DN76 Oradea–Deva. No railway line runs through the municipality of Finiș; the nearest station is in Beiuș and offers only limited services.

The three transport connections serve different orientation purposes: the county road places Finiș in relation to Beiuș and Stâncești, the national road describes the connection from Beiuș to the Oradea–Deva route, and the forest road indicates the separate section to Schitul Huta. This distinction keeps the route details separate.
