Fundata lies in the Rucăr-Bran Corridor between the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului Massifs. The municipality of Fundata occupies the upper levels of the Bran Platform at elevations of 1,200 to 1,300 metres; some residential buildings are located above 1,300 metres and even at 1,400 metres. Historically, Fundata lay on the border between the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and Wallachia. Fundata was the first locality liberated by Romanian troops.

When comparing a hotel in Fundata, the travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions are three specific details provided on the respective offer page. For different travel periods, room preferences and flexible booking plans, these fields provide a consistent basis for comparison when reviewing a hotel.

Nature

Fundata can be reached by road from Brașov or Pitești via the E574; the roads in the area pass through mountainous terrain with hairpin bends. Hiking route 01MN30 connects the village of Fundata with Cabana Padina and passes via Muntele Bucșa and Refugiul Strunga. The red cycling loop No. 11 in Piatra Craiului National Park runs from Dâmbovicioara via Podu Dâmboviței, Valea Cheii, Fundățica, Fundata, Șirnea and Ciocanu, returning to Dâmbovicioara.

The two routes described therefore have different forms: the hiking route is presented as a connection between Fundata and Cabana Padina with named intermediate points, while the cycling route is a loop through several locations in the national park. The approach via the E574 also follows a different pattern, as it leads from two starting cities through winding mountainous terrain.

Sports and Activities

The Cheile-Grădiștei Fundata complex is home to Romania’s only internationally homologated biathlon arena. The sports facility at the Cheile-Grădiștei Fundata resort is located at an elevation of 1,300 metres and is used for training camps as well as national and international competitions. The Alpine Coaster at the Cheile-Grădiștei Fundata resort is approximately 1.6 kilometres long and features two spectacular uphill sections. The Alpine Coaster is intended for adults and children aged three and over; children between three and seven years old may use the track only together with an adult. The adventure park at the Cheile-Grădiștei Fundata resort offers tree climbing on varied courses.

The sports offerings therefore comprise several different forms: the biathlon arena and sports facility are associated with training and competitions, while the Alpine Coaster and adventure park each constitute separate activity areas. The Alpine Coaster also has a specific age rule; children aged three to seven must be accompanied by an adult.

Culture and History

At the Nicolae-Frunteș Museum in Șirnea, the traditional lighting of the flame for Olympic Day takes place. At the 57th edition of the traditional “Măsura Laptelui” festival in Șirnea, in the municipality of Fundata, traditional foods, folk music, scenes from everyday life and shepherds’ games were presented. The Church of the “Dormition of the Mother of God” in the village of Fundata, Fundata municipality, is dated to 1843.

The cultural details range from a single museum event to a festival with several specified components and a dated church building. As a result, Șirnea and Fundata appear in the article not only as starting points for routes and sports, but also in connection with different historical and traditional references.
