An educational trail makes Borşa tangible through a clear change in elevation: it begins in Stațiunea Borșa at an altitude of 800 m and ends above Lacul Izvorul Bistriței (Lacul Știol), in a dwarf mountain pine thicket at an altitude of 1,800 m. The two elevation points make the difference in altitude along the educational trail immediately comparable. For a travel group with differing preferences, it is worthwhile not to treat the options as a single programme, but to consider nature, trails, winter activities and horse-riding options separately.

Nature

The Piatra Rea scientific nature reserve is part of Parcul Național Munții Rodnei. The area is known for the numerous edelweiss specimens found there. Cascada Cailor lies on the northern slope of the Munții Rodnei, at an altitude of 1,300 m and with a total length of 90 m; at the same time, it is part of the Piatra Rea nature reserve. All seasons are recommended as visiting times for Cascada Cailor. The greatest water flow is reached during the snowmelt, around April and May.

Hiking

The mountain hiking trail Complex Turistic Borșa – Cascada Cailor – Șaua Știol – Pasul Prislop is a marked tourist mountain trail. The route Cascada Cailor – Podu Cailor – valea Cimpoiasa – Borșa Fântâna is located in Borșa, Maramureş, in the Parcul Național Munții Rodnei. Winter
