Suciu de Sus offers an unusually concrete introduction to the region’s history: the archaeological settlement “Aşezarea din epoca bronzului de la Suciu de Jos - Pe Şes” in Suciu de Sus dates from the Late Bronze Age. Another connection to the Țara Lăpușului area is the traditional costume style “zadii sucenești”: it is named after Suciu de Sus and reached the Țara Lăpușului area through the village.
The Arcer Tibles Nature Reserve covers the high central area of the Tibles Mountains between Arcer Peak, at 1,829 metres, and Tibles Peak, at 1,840 metres. County road DJ171 crosses the commune of Suciu de Sus and runs from Târgu Lăpuș to the commune of Târlișua in Bistrița-Năsăud County.
Culture

Zestrea Suciului presents a restored old wooden house as a living museum and as a centre for preserving the archaic culture of Țara Lăpușului.
The old agricultural custom “claca la secerat” was also revived in Suciu de Sus. Locals in traditional clothing reenacted the former communal grain harvest.
At the exit from Suciu de Sus, on Ulița lui Cușner, there is a modern agri-food market on the site of the former fairground. At Zestrea Suciului, dishes are prepared over a wood fire, in a brick oven or in a cauldron; the ingredients come from the villages of Suciu de Sus and Suciu de Jos. In 2024, the market was open or operating on Saturdays.
