Nature

The Mlyňany Arboretum is located within the municipal areas of Tesárske Mlyňany and Vieska nad Žitavou. The botanical grounds cover 67 hectares. More than 2,300 plant species from various parts of the world grow there, particularly from East Asia, Korea, and North America. The diversity of the regions of origin shapes the character of the arboretum just as much as its extensive grounds.

A 4.5-kilometre walking route runs through the Mlyňany Arboretum. For cyclists, the signposted Požitavská cyklomagistrála cycling tourism route is also important; it passes through Tesárske Mlyňany. Slepčany and Tesárske Mlyňany are the railway stations for travelling to the Mlyňany Arboretum. Before travelling by train or taking a cycling tour, check the current transport timetables and the conditions of the respective route.

Museum and Municipal History

The Tesárske Mlyňany Municipal Museum was ceremonially opened on 8 September 2012. Exhibits and photographs provide insights into the local past, former life, and the traditions of the municipality. A visit to the museum complements the nature route with tangible connections to the history of municipal life. Visitors interested in culture will find here, alongside the sacred buildings, an additional perspective on traditional ways of life.

Pilgrimage and Sacred Sites

Tesárske Mlyňany is associated with a pilgrimage and the veneration of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus has an open front because it is used for pilgrimages. It was built in 1994 to mark the 85th anniversary of the pilgrimages to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Tesáre. The chapel thus combines its open architectural design with a specific pilgrimage occasion. Before travelling, check current opening hours or event dates for visits to sacred sites.

A Calvary complex stands on the grounds of the parish church of Tesárske Mlyňany. The parish church also has Baroque side altars from the 18th century. These side altars come from Svätý Beňadik, now Hronský Beňadík.

Churches and Chapels

The Church of the Annunciation in Tesárske Mlyňany is a single-nave Baroque church. It was built in 1760–1763 in place of an older, presumably Romanesque sacred building and remodelled in the Neoclassical style in 1804. Its main altar is Late Baroque and dates from 1760–1770. This church building therefore brings together the Baroque period of its construction, its Neoclassical remodelling, and the Late Baroque furnishings of the main altar.

In the Mlyňany district of Tesárske Mlyňany, two differently classified chapels stand in the cemetery. One Neoclassical chapel dates from 1779. Another Late Neoclassical cemetery chapel was built in 1841. Both buildings stand in the district's cemetery and differ in their art-historical classification and year of construction. The two years of construction point to two separate building phases in the Mlyňany district.
