Pravotice: Landscape, Culture and Hotels
In Pravotice, specific landscape features, designed public spaces, ecclesiastical architectural history and agricultural village life come together. The village is not defined by grand promises, but by individual places, structures, bodies of water and recurring events that can be clearly identified.
Nature
The Pravotický potok flows through Pravotice and empties into the Bebrava near Livina. The Bebrava belongs to the Nitra catchment area. Another connection to the water is provided by the cadastral area of Pravotice, which borders the Jerichov Reservoir.
Above Pravotice, a walnut avenue was planted near the church in 2022. There is an acacia swing and a view of the surrounding Považský Inovec and Tríbeč mountain ranges. Access is from the road towards Rybany.
Villagescape
A children’s playground was built in Pravotice Park in 2016. A multifunctional sports field and fitness equipment were added near the football pitch in 2017. The villagescape therefore includes several differently equipped facilities, without their functions being limited to a single type of use.
The Prameň osvieženia fountain in the centre of Pravotice was renovated. In front of the municipal office stands a wood carving depicting an owl and its owlets. Both locations add a designed fountain and a figurative wood carving to the visible elements of community life.
Culture
The park also contains a wood carving of a water sprite. There are also 35 nesting boxes made by residents during the educational cultural event Spoznávaj a chráň. The connection between local art and a resident-led event can therefore be directly seen in the park.
Šarkaniáda is one of the events held annually in Pravotice. The date is therefore one of the village’s recurring events, complementing the permanent facilities and carvings with a seasonal occasion.
Church
The Kostol Nepoškvrneného počatia Panny Márie church is originally a Baroque building from the 18th century. It was rebuilt in the 19th century and was last structurally altered in 1902. Its history therefore encompasses several construction phases spanning more than two centuries.
The single-nave church has a slightly rounded presbytery end, an attached sacristy and a built-in tower. These structural features describe the church building as well as its historical development.
The church stands in an elevated position, is in good condition and continues to serve its purpose. A cemetery and a parking area are located above the church. From there, visitors can see, among other things, Topoľčany Castle.
Agriculture
The PD Brezina Pravotice agricultural production cooperative organizes an open day every September. During the PD Brezina open day, visitors can sample and buy meat products. They can also tour PD Brezina’s operational premises, agricultural machinery and animals.
Pravotice also has a sales outlet for PD Brezina meat products. The cooperative is thus connected both with an annual event and with a permanent sales outlet in the village.
