The remains of the once-mighty castle in Podgrad include part of a defensive tower. The hill of Stari grad bears the ruins of Novi grad Castle, which dates from the 13th century. In Podgrad’s old rural district, the old houses once had steep, thatched roofs. Thus, Podgrad’s buildings from different periods stand alongside traces of a rural architectural tradition that has since disappeared.
