Trobni Dol: Hotels, B4 Trail and Culture

The Trobni Dol Cultural Association has a theatre group, a singing group and an ethnographic group. The ethnographic group revives and presents old folk customs. Thus, the association’s activities include performing, musical and tradition-related activities, without the three groups having the same role. The three groups therefore exist side by side within the association’s programme: theatre, singing and the preservation of traditional customs are each represented by a separate group.

The Chapel of Saint Barbara in Trobni Dol is classified as a cultural monument and houses four bells. The chapel’s first bell is a wish bell. The chapel also contains a sculpture of Saint Barbara made of clay, glass and iron. The chapel’s name, its classification, the number of bells and the special designation of the first bell are therefore among its clearly stated features.

The former Trobni Dol–Lahomno narrow-gauge railway is part of the village’s history. It transported coal from the Ana mine adit at the Trobni Dol mine to Lahomno. This former narrow-gauge railway included a locomotive turntable called “Šajba”. The railway and its turntable are to be understood as former facilities, not as current railway operations. The name “Šajba” belongs to the technical equipment of this former railway connection and does not refer to an additional route.

The Salobir tourist farm serves Štruklji, dumplings filled with homemade cottage cheese. The Salobir tourist farm’s products also include potica cake with cracklings. Both dishes are associated with this specifically named tourist farm: Štruklji are described by their filling, while the potica cake is mentioned with cracklings.
