Nature and Trails

Mozirski gaj is a flower park with flowerbeds and themed gardens. The walking trail from the Mozirje TIC to Mozirski gaj is around 0.8 km long and takes about 30 minutes; it is suitable for families with small children. In summer, Golte offers the opportunity to explore a landscape park via numerous marked trails, as well as an alpine garden.

For longer walks, there is the Pot od zvonika do zvonika. This easy, 18 km tourist trail takes about five hours. This means that in and around Mozirje, you can find both a short walk and a considerably longer route with its own time commitment.

Culture and History

The historic market center of Mozirje includes historic market houses as well as carved benches and portals made of greenish volcanic tuff. The Mozirje museum collection in the town library presents local history through old photographs, documents and objects arranged by theme. In December 2025, the Muzejska zbirka, with its permanent exhibition, was moved to a new location at Mozirski trg (Na Trgu 38).

Mozirski gaj also includes an open-air ethnographic museum. In the wider regional surroundings of Mozirje, you will also find the Church of Saint Margaret and the Church of Saint Leonard.

Surroundings

The mountains of Čreta, Boskovec, Skorno and Gora Oljka are located in the surroundings of Mozirje. Each of the four mountains belongs to the town’s immediate surroundings, while the two aforementioned churches are located in the wider regional surroundings. The geographical classification therefore encompasses different spatial relationships without combining them into a single distance or location indication.

Festivals and Regional Cuisine

Pust Mozirski is an annual carnival featuring musical entertainment, a gala, a children’s masquerade and a carnival parade. The program therefore combines various forms of carnival, from music and a gala to a separate masquerade for children and the parade.

A walk along a picturesque country lane includes a traditional shepherd’s snack consisting of homemade salami, cheese, bread and an apple. A tasting of zgornjesavinjski želodec is combined with apple juice, cider, selected wines, sparkling wines and spirits.
