Culture and History

The Muzej Alfi Nipič presents the life and musical career of singer Alfi Nipič in the permanent exhibition “Ostal bom muzikant”. The museum also has a wine shop where wines and sparkling wines from local winemakers can be sampled; cars and buses can park directly at the museum.

The Church of Saint James in Jakobski Dol was built as a chapel as early as the end of the 14th century and became a parish church in 1785. The church in Jarenina combines Gothic and Baroque stylistic elements, as well as some Renaissance elements.

The restored Jareninski dvor houses a winery and the Dveri-Pax restaurant, continuing the tradition of winegrowing. Jareninski dvor and its associated estate were acquired in the 12th century by Benedictines from Admont.

Wine and Cuisine

Dveri-Pax offers tasting menus of different lengths, paired with selected wines. Organic vegetables, herbs and spices from its own garden are used, along with carefully selected ingredients from local food producers.

Along the Gornje-slovenjegoriška vinska turistična cesta, white wines such as Laški rizling, Kerner, Sauvignon, Traminer, Yellow Muscat, Green Sylvaner and Pinot Gris can be sampled at excursion and tourist farms, wine shops and wine cellars.

Hiking and Cycling

The jareninska pohodniška pot is 18 km long and suitable for leisurely walkers and recreational hikers. The Jakobova pot is 13 km long, is expected to take five hours and is suitable for recreational hikers. It begins in the centre of Jakobski Dol at the Vogrinov Museum or at the windmill.

The Pesniška pot is a 10 km hiking trail that can be completed in around four hours with breaks. The Vogrinov Museum and the windmill are listed on the Pesniška kolesarska pot (16).

Športni park Pesnica has a 300 m long asphalt track approximately 2 m wide, suitable for travel in both directions. Vogrinčič Beekeeping has an apiary with 18 beehives, an apiary chamber, a bed above the beehives and a massage room.

Nature

Perniško jezero is an important biotope for waterfowl and serves as a resting place for some rare migratory birds. Numerous wetland plants grow along its shore.

Perniško jezero consists of two retention basins connected by a canal, separated from each other by a narrow embankment with a road.

Fishing at Perniško jezero is permitted only with a valid fishing licence and in accordance with the applicable fishing regulations and the rules of the operator. Perniško jezero is suitable for fishing, but not for swimming.
