Culture and History

St. Peter Church was first mentioned in 1579. It contains a restored Renaissance relief altar from the workshop of the Venetian master Pietro Lombardo. On the hill above Sveti Peter stands the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Thus, the sacred history includes both a specific church building with an art-historical detail and an independent point of reference on the hill above the village.

Architecture and Everyday Life

Tona's House is an ethnological monument with well-preserved elements of traditional Istrian rural architecture. The house was restored in 1979 in keeping with the period, preserves characteristic elements of this architecture and illustrates the former lifestyle of Istrian farmers. A reconstructed olive mill can be viewed on the ground floor. The first floor contains living quarters that illustrate the life and culture of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century. The two floors therefore show different areas of the same house: the olive mill on the ground floor and the historic living quarters on the first floor.

Olive Oil

The traditional production of olive oil in such an olive mill included an olive mill, a press, a spindle for tightening the press screw, and a stove with a boiler for heating water. Events

The SV. PETER CUP is a traditional, regularly held small-sided football tournament in Sveti Peter. The first SV. PETER CUP tournament was held in 1995. At the Sveti Peter village festival, Istrian customs, folklore, singing, local products and a cultural program take center stage in front of Tonina hiša. The sports tournament and village festival therefore appear as two differently characterized forms of event, each with its own focus.
