Nature

The Trenta Valley lies entirely within Triglav National Park. The Soča Source emerges from a cave with an underground lake. The Mlinarica mountain stream has carved out a one-kilometre-long and 100-metre-deep gorge. At the confluence of the Mlinarica, there is an eight-metre-high waterfall. In this natural setting, a source with an unusual origin, a deeply incised gorge and a clearly named waterfall thus come together.

Hiking

The Soča Trail is a trail in Triglav National Park that follows the Soča from its source to Bovec. The complete Soča Trail from the source to Bovec is 25 km long. The trail runs through technically easy terrain, although it includes short steep sections. Forests and meadows accompany the route, as does the course of the Soča. The technical classification as easy therefore does not mean that every passage is level. For hikes, route length and terrain profile are separate planning factors. Before departure, current information on trail conditions and transport schedules can be checked.

The Upper Soča Trail

The upper section of the Soča Trail begins at Koča pri Izviru Soče and ends in Na Logu in Trenta with a visit to the information centre of Triglav National Park, Dom Trenta. Seven information points along the upper section convey the valley’s heritage, nature, geology and forestry. The trail section thus connects the source area with a named information destination in Trenta.

Juliana

Juliana is the oldest alpine botanical garden in a natural setting on Slovenian territory. Albert Bois de Chesne founded Juliana in 1926. The garden therefore represents both an alpine botanical classification and a clearly dated founding history. A plant guide serves a practical identification function during a garden visit; choosing the language is part of preparing for the tour.

Culture

The natural features of Triglav National Park are presented at Dom Trenta. A special feature of the museum at Dom Trenta is the video installation “Secrets of the Soča – Time Horizon” by Andrej Zdravič. Current opening hours can be checked before visiting the museum.
