In connection with the upcoming new hot summer tourist season the Croatian government has decided to temporarily abolish tourist visas for the residents from Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia.

Abolition of visas to Croatia will affect only citizens of Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan for the period from April 1 to October 31, 2011. Residents of these countries will be able to freely cross the border of Croatia only with a valid passport.

It should be also mentioned that citizens of the Russian Federation all the year-round can enjoy the simplified visa regime when crossing the Croatian border. Russian tourists when travelling to Croatia must present a passport and the original tourist voucher. During the private trip in addition to the passport is required notarized original invitation. The term for staying of Russian tourists in Croatia without visas is limited to 3 months.

Croatia is one of the most popular Mediterranean resorts frequently visited by the tourists from the CIS countries. Complete abolition of visas during the holiday season, adopted by the Croatian government for the citizens of Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, is designed to attract tourists’ attention to the magnificent beach resorts and sights in Croatia.

In addition to simplified visa regime Croatia offers tourists very friendly customs regulations. Foreign citizens have the right to import and export of foreign currency in unlimited quantities. In the case of making purchases in Croatia in the amount of more than 500 Croatian kunas PDV is returned to the tourists, who are leaving the country. Tourists are allowed to duty-free import to Croatia 400 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 grams of tobacco; 1 liter of spirits, 2 liters of wine, 1 kg of coffee or tea, as well as 50ml of perfume for personal use. The items that should be declared are electronic equipment, cameras and video recorders, musical instruments, sporting equipment and diving equipment.
