Vuno: Coastal Village with Cultural Monuments and Hotels
Vuno is an old coastal village with characteristic architecture: stone houses and narrow lanes define the village, complemented by impressive views of the Ionian Sea.
Culture
The history of Vuno is reflected in old churches, houses designated as cultural monuments and local traditions. The Church of Saint Spyridon in Vuno is a Category I cultural monument and is dated to 1778. It is therefore one of the village’s clearly identified historic buildings.
The Church of Saint Nicholas is located in the upper part of the village of Vuno in Himarë. It was designated a Category I cultural monument in 2015. The single-nave building is constructed of stones joined with lime mortar, has a round-arched apse and preserves frescoes from 1783.
The historic center of Vuno consists of two zones. Zone I includes the buildings on both sides of the national road, predominantly in old Vuno. Zone II lies below the national road and includes the complex of the Church of Saint Spyridon, the school and the Church of Saint Michael. The division thus connects different parts of the historic village fabric with its churches and other buildings.
Nature
Between Vuno and Ilias lies the Gjipe Canyon, which is visited by many nature and extreme sports enthusiasts. The descent from Vuno to the sea leads to Gjipe Beach, with sand and clear water; beyond it stretches a completely rocky coast. In this way, the beach is followed by a distinctly different coastal section and the landscape of the canyon.
Paths
Another path leads to Jal Beach. Apart from a few steeper sections, it is mostly level and reaches the paved main road to Jal Beach. The route thus connects the level passages and the steeper sections with the junction to this road.
When comparing a hotel in Vuno, first check the exact location and the stated accommodation type on the respective offer pages. Also pay attention to occupancy, included services, individual price components, and booking and cancellation conditions. Compare the displayed fields directly and consider only conditions actually stated on the respective offer page. Especially when offers differ, consistent checking is helpful because the final price may consist of several displayed components. Therefore, also check how many people the occupancy applies to and whether the listed services are already included in the price. The specific details of each individual offer remain decisive; general expectations regarding location, amenities or services do not replace this check. This allows the visible conditions to be compared objectively side by side, without assuming properties that have not been stated.
