History

On the right bank of the Khosrov River, approximately 6 kilometers northwest of Urtsadzor, stand the Urtsi and Tapi fortresses. Tapi Fortress includes remains from the 10th century, residential buildings and vaulted structures dating from the 10th to the 13th century, and a church from the 13th century. Urtsi Fortress was built in the 4th century and continued to develop in successive phases until the 13th century.

The surrounding area of Urtsadzor also includes Urts, Gorr ishkhani, Razvaliny Dyugidash, Getamej, Bali, Aghuniki Hor, and Marmarasar.

Kaytsaki P’ul is located near Urtsadzor.

Access to the Khosrov Forest State Reserve is organized as a reserved, ticketed experience and is accompanied by a local ranger on a guided hike.
