On the left bank of the Aparan Reservoir, the historical monument complex at the former village site of Zovuni comprises the churches of Tukh Manuk, St. Vardan, and St. Poghos-Petros, as well as quadrangular stone monuments. The Church of St. Vardan and its adjacent two-story tomb are presented as rare examples of early medieval Armenian architecture.
At the former village site of Zovuni, St. Poghos-Petros is described as the first Armenian architectural example of the domed hall type; its building inscription has been preserved on a wall pier.
Near Zovuni are the Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, K’anak’err - 8, K’ristoneut’yan 1700-amyakin, the Nor Arabkir Memorial Complex, Tsovakal Isakovi, Ajap’nyak 2-rd, Ajap’nyak 3-rd, and Aygedzor - 1.
In 1967, the old village area was flooded beneath the Aparan Reservoir. St. Vardan and Tukh Manuk were relocated and rebuilt on the hill called Eastern Khacher, while the other monuments remained in place.
