The Chiraqqala–Shabran State Historical and Cultural Reserve includes Chiraqqala, ancient Shabran, the Gilgilchay defensive wall, the Pir-Khalil Mausoleum, Shahargah, the Old Cemetery, and Charaq qala. The ruins of the ancient Silk Road city of Shabran can be visited a few kilometers northwest of Qalaaltı.
Transport and Accommodation
On Azerbaijan’s northern route, the Baku–Rostov railway has stations in Shabran, Khachmaz, Khudat, and Yalama. On the same route, a highway runs from Baku to the Russian border; buses operate daily from Baku’s International Bus Station to towns and cities along the route. Taxis and ridesharing services are available.
