Tscharnautschyzy: Hotels and Accommodation

In Chernavchitsy, the Church of the Holy Trinity was built of brick between 1585 and 1595 with the financial support of Voivode Nicholas Christopher “the Orphan” Radziwill. Those wishing to book a hotel in Tscharnautschyzy can continue their accommodation search afterwards.

Culture

A stone bell tower, also built in the 16th century, stands beside the Church of the Holy Trinity. The Church of the Holy Trinity was partly built as a fortress; the walls of the side façades are more than one metre thick. Inside are three Baroque polychrome wooden sculptures from the 18th century. The bell tower has clearly pronounced features of defensive architecture, and its composition resembles the defensive tower of Nesvizh Castle.

The Church of Saint Paraskeva Pyatnitsa was built in 1733 in the centre of Chernavchitsy as a monument to wooden architecture and remodelled at the end of the 19th century.

History

Chernavchitsy is home to a mass grave of Soviet soldiers and partisans, in which 416 people who died in battles with German troops in July 1944 are buried.

The Holocaust memorial in Chernavchitsy commemorates eleven Jewish residents who were murdered by German troops on 23 June 1941. The third name on the Holocaust memorial in Chernavchitsy is Michael Wiszengrad. The memorial stands in the courtyard of the Catholic church.

Outside Chernavchitsy, on the road to Brest, there is a rural Holocaust memorial.

Geographical location

The Church of the Holy Trinity is located in Chernavchitsy, 18 km from Brest. A road leads to Chernavchitsy from the R-83 Brest–Kamenets–Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park highway.
