Geographical Location

The local road N-78 leads from Bereza via Leoshki to Mormozhevo; there is also an access road to the village of Khomichi. The Leoshki peat deposit is listed in the Yaselda catchment area as deposit no. 120 on the map of major peat deposits.

On the right bank of the Yaselda, the Beresa Terrace is clearly prominent in the section from Selez to Bereza in Leoshki and reaches a width of 100 to 120 m there. A chalk factory was established in the vicinity of Leoshki.

History

The Red Barracks in Bereza were built in 1870. Today, the Red Barracks house rows of shops, an art gallery, and a café. The Carthusian monastery in Bereza was built between 1648 and 1689.

In 2009, the only spiritual and patriotic complex in Belarus was opened in Bereza on the grounds of the 19th-century Old Park. In 1620, Chancellor Lew Sapieha granted four voloki of land to the church in the village of Leoshki; they were called “Troyanovshchizna”.

The “Zditovskaya Defense” memorial complex in Novoselki was built in 1975 at the site of fierce fighting by the “Sovetskaya Belorussia” partisan brigade. The “Austrian Cemetery” is located in the village of Novoselki, 1.5 km from Bereza.
