History
On December 12, 1944, Act No. 5 on the burning of Silichi and the killing of its inhabitants was drawn up in Pruzhany. Silichi is also mentioned among the 17 villages in Pruzhany District that were burned to the ground by German occupiers.
Silichi was one of the seven villages in Pruzhany District against which a punitive operation was carried out on June 17, 1942. During the punitive operation in Silichi, women and children were left without shelter or food. It is also recorded that villages in Pruzhany District were burned to the ground in 1942.
Nature
The “Dikoye” lowland bog and nature reserve is located in Pruzhany and Svislach districts of the Grodno Region, as well as in the watersheds of the Yaselda and Narew rivers. It is home to many rare animal and plant species.
The “Dikoye” nature reserve is part of Bialowieza Forest National Park and has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
