Vrančići: Hotel and Historical Evidence

During the traditional Dan šehida commemoration, a šehidsko mezarje and a memorial site are visited in Vrančići. Vrančići is one of the memorial sites visited during this traditional commemoration in the municipality of Hadžići. Another place of remembrance is the Vrančići Memorial Cemetery. In present-day Vrančićko greblje there is a presumably late medieval burial structure made of upright stone slabs, covered by a single slab that is now broken into three pieces. This burial structure is presumably regarded as a late medieval burial structure of a type found in cemeteries with stećci. Several old nišani in Vrančićko greblje document the continuity of burial traditions from the age of the stećci to the nišani.

In the wider regional surroundings of Vrančići are Zmajevac Fortress, the monumental fountain known as the Sebilj Fountain, and the synagogue known as the Sarajevo Synagogue. The historical connection with the area of present-day Grivići also extends further back: there are three necropolises there with 97 stećci. Grivići, Drozgometva and Vrančići presumably formed a territorial unit called Drozgometva in the Middle Ages.
