Klokot: Karst Spring, River Landscape and Hotels

Klokot is defined by its karst spring and the river of the same name. The Klokot Spring is one of the largest karst springs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Klokot River is a left-bank tributary of the Una and flows through the settlement of Klokot. The spring, watercourse and settlement therefore share the same place name, while remaining clearly distinguishable in terms of their respective geographical functions.

Nature

Klokot is a typical mountain river with an average water temperature of 8 to 10°C. Along almost its entire course, it flows past meadows and pastures. In the spring area, the landscape is characterized by dense evergreen vegetation: the source area of Klokot is surrounded by this vegetation. The source of the Klokot River is one of the natural monuments of Una-Sana Canton.

In the immediate vicinity of the Klokot Spring, four speleological sites were identified in 1986. Above the spring, there is a cave in a rock face. The natural history of the area therefore extends beyond the visible river course and the vegetated spring area to include the underground features and the rock face above the spring.

Culture and Excursions

On the left bank of the Klokot, immediately downstream from the pumping station, there is a municipal recreation area used by Bihać. A road leading to the Klokot recreation area runs alongside the pumping station grounds. The settlement of Klokot near Bihać is also home to an authentic old Bosnian house that is more than 230 years old. The locations mentioned thus range from the left riverbank and the pumping station to the settlement itself.

Fishing

The Klokot fishing area is divided into two sections. The first section, near the spring, is 2,210 m long and reserved exclusively for fly-fishing. Other fishing techniques are permitted in the second section. The length and regulations are assigned to the first and second sections of the fishing area, respectively.

Hotels in Klokot

When comparing hotels in Klokot, first check the exact location and type of accommodation on the respective offer pages. The possible occupancy, included services and individual price components can then help you make an objective comparison. Also pay attention to the booking and cancellation policies, as well as which costs are already included and which are listed separately. Particularly when planning on a budget, it is advisable to apply the same criteria to every offer rather than considering only the first price displayed. Also check the period for which the stated prices apply and whether the occupancy is clearly specified for the planned number of guests. Differences between included and separately charged services should also remain visible in the comparison. Compare the offers at your leisure and book only once the conditions that matter to you are clear.
