Nova Bila: Discover Rivers, Culture and Hotels
Nova Bila is connected to two clearly identifiable rivers: the Bila rises on the slopes of Vlašić and flows into the Lašva River in Nova Bila. From this starting point, the following routes, cultural sites, and events explore different aspects of the town and its surroundings.
Nature
The mountains Zadanj and Kuk are located in the immediate vicinity of Nova Bila. The surrounding area also includes the peak of Veliki Kik and the mountain of Donja Čatrnja. Thus, several named elevations with different geographical connections to Nova Bila are associated with the area.
The “Staza stare pruge” cycling route also has a maintained section between Nova Bila and Stara Bila. The cycling and walking path “Staza stare pruge – Old Rail Trail” connects Busovača and Turbe; the Stara Bila–Nova Bila section has been developed.
Culture
The Franjevačka bolnica dr. fra Mate Nikolića was established on December 15, 1992, in the complex of the Pastoral Center in Nova Bila. It is named after fra Mati Nikoliću, who is considered the first doctor with a doctorate in the history of healthcare in Bosnia and Herzegovina and completed his medical studies in Feldesberg in 1807.
The JU Hrvatski kulturni centar Nova Bila is one of Travnik’s cultural institutions. The Hrvatski kulturni centar Nova Bila has a concert hall, and the Kazalište mladih Korifej Nova Bila is located in the building of the Hrvatski kulturni centar Nova Bila.
The parish of the Holy Spirit and the parish church in Nova Bila are part of the town’s ecclesiastical history. The parish was founded on August 25, 1974, while the parish church was essentially completed in 1977. It was restored after the war; the new stained-glass windows were created by the artist Đuro Seder. During the past war, the parish church and the parish house in Nova Bila also served as a hospital.
The Ivo Andric Museum is located near Nova Bila. In addition, the event “Dani kruha i zahvalnosti za plodove zemlje” took place in Nova Bila under the organization of Nova Bila Elementary School; students from Srednja škola “Travnik” Nova Bila and children from the Dani kindergarten also participated.
Events
The events mentioned in the Nova Bila area include the 2025 Memorial Hike. It featured a moderately difficult ascent to Brdo Križ, beginning in the Površje area near Pokrajčići. The 4th “Zvonko Gučanin Tajo” Memorial Hike was organized on March 22, 2025, in Pokrajčići by the Hrvatska ekološka planinarska udruga “Sveti duh” Nova Bila.
Visitors were invited to the “Duhovi” tournament at the bocce court in Dubrave, Nova Bila, from May 9 to 23, 2026. The 3rd “Duhovi” Nova Bila Bocce Tournament was part of the traditional cultural and sporting event “Dani Nove Bile” 2026. The tournament was planned to include 82 participants in 18 teams.
The Kazalište LOGOS Nova Bila was also associated with an offering: it invited students in grades 3 to 9 to register. In addition, HAHAfest was scheduled to take place from June 18 to 21, 2026, in Nova Bila and/or Travnik as a regional comedy and theater festival. The announced HAHAfest was to feature professional theaters and established artists from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro; the program also included a performance for children. Kazalište LOGOS Nova Bila was to organize HAHAfest, supported by the JU Hrvatski kulturni centar Nova Bila.
The Dani Nove Bile 2026 program was announced to include entertainment, sporting, and cultural activities. The dates mentioned therefore range from an organized memorial hike and bocce to theater and a regional festival.
