Vitez in the Lašva Valley: Culture, Nature and Ribica Water Park

The M17 trunk road runs in the immediate vicinity of the municipality of Vitez in a north-south direction and forms part of the so-called Corridor Vc. One accommodation option in the town is Etno Selo Čardaci in Vitez, which has 60 accommodation units with around 150 beds. The accommodation at Etno Selo Čardaci is built from natural materials, modelled on Bosnian houses.

The historical surroundings include the Crna Kuća memorial complex in Kruščica. It comprises an enclosed courtyard, a wooden house called Crna Kuća, a grave with a sculpture and commemorative plaques. In 1913, a hoard dating from the Late Bronze Age was discovered in Veliki Mošunj near Vitez. The short sword from Veliki Mošunj, kept in the archaeological department’s collection of the Zemaljski muzej Bosne i Hercegovine, can be viewed by arrangement with the museum administration and a curator.

The townscape also includes the Ahmed-Agina Mosque and the Catholic Church of St George. The Ahmed-Agina Mosque in Vitez dates from 1590 and was later rebuilt. The Catholic Church of St George in Vitez was built in 1905.

The cultural life includes several recurring events. Vitez hosts the Dani kazališta “Vitez” theatre programme; its 17th edition began in 2025. The Gradsko kazalište mladih Vitez organises the recurring Ljetna škola glume, whose 20th edition ended in 2025. The International Art Colony in Vitez reached its 16th edition in 2026. In connection with this 16th International Art Colony, an exhibition of works from the 15th Art Colony was planned for 2026.

The “Staza stare pruge” cycle path is fully walkable and rideable along the section that runs through the municipality of Vitez and is ready for use. Ribica Water Park in Vitez has four swimming pools. The park offers water slides for adults and children, diving towers, waves, water massages, waterfalls and a white-water channel. There are also sandy, landscaped and concrete beach areas. Ribica Water Park has a wheelchair-accessible entrance.

In the vicinity of Vitez, Planinarski dom Zabrđe has a sports field and camping facilities. Also in the vicinity of Vitez, the slopes of Kruščica are home to numerous springs and small mountain streams rich in salmonids.

In the vicinity of Vitez, a Way of the Cross in Mošunj leads through the forest and along a forest path to the Kalvarija shrine. The Church of Our Lady stands at the Kalvarija shrine in Mošunj; it was built by Jesuits in 1912.
