Sinemorets: Hotels and Accommodations

The Veleka River Mouth Protected Area covers 1,511 hectares and includes the river mouth and the lower basin in the territories of Ahtopol, Brodilovo, and Sinemorets. It includes several eco-trails and routes, including the geological trail of the Paleovolcanology Nature Museum, the Veleka River Mouth–Tsarskoto Kladenche Area–Brodilovo Village route, and the left bank of the Veleka.

The Veleka Protected Area contains rare and protected plants, including the endangered yellow water lily, which is designated there as the only occurrence of this species in Strandzha Nature Park.

The Via Pontica bird migration corridor runs above the Veleka Protected Area. The lower sections of the river are used by birds for overwintering or as a stopover.

The Fortified Ruler’s Residence near Sinemorets was the home of a Thracian ruler on a natural elevation beside the Veleka River Mouth. It was protected by a surrounding wall and a tower. Archaeological materials indicate that the complex was inhabited during the Late Hellenistic period, probably by a local Thracian ruler involved in ore extraction and trade in the Strandzha region. The residence is visible and accessible by car and on foot; when entering Sinemorets, visitors turn left.

Underwater investigations in Potamya Bay north of Sinemorets found pottery from the 5th–4th centuries BC and from the Middle Ages, as well as anchors and lead fittings from an ancient ship.

Boat trips on the upper and lower stretches of the Veleka start at the river landing immediately beyond the bridge before Sinemorets. The upper trip extends as far as Tsarskoto Kladenche, where there is a picnic shelter.

The Sinemorets–Veleka River Mouth–Ahtopol route is 8.2 kilometers long, takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, and is suitable for mountain biking.

The Veleka is navigable for 8 kilometers from its mouth to the Tsarskoto Kladenche area; this section is described as suitable for water tourism.

In Sinemorets, visitors can enjoy banana boat rides, rent jet skis, go on excursions with horses and ponies, take boat trips on the Veleka, and use trails for hikers and cyclists.
