Tsarevo: Hotels and accommodations

Tsarevo, formerly Vasiliko, was first mentioned in the second half of the 12th century. In 1662, Evliya Çelebi described a harbor and a small fortress in Vasiliko, which he called “Basiliko Burgas.”

An important historic building is the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in Tsarevo’s Vasiliko district. It was built around 1810 on the site of an older church; its present form dates from 1895. It also survived the great fire in Vasiliko at the end of the 19th century.

The Tsarevo Municipal Historical Museum is one of Bulgaria’s 100 national tourist sites and is listed there under number 8b. It has three exhibition floors. The archaeology and treasure halls display artifacts from three millennia, as well as silver and gold finds.

Tsarevo Harbor Bay lies between Cape Castro to the south and Cape Limnos to the north. The harbor has been designated an international port since 1995. Year-round mooring of watercraft is also possible there.

The historic townscape includes the Vasiliko Customs House, which is open for visits year-round.

“Tsarevo Sportuva” is a recurring sports festival held in Tsarevo in July. The program includes a swimming marathon and the “5kmRun.” At the 2026 edition, children took their first steps in windsurfing on Pontona Beach with the instructors from XChallenge Surf.

The Summer Dog Fest was also held in Tsarevo for three consecutive years through 2026. For 2026, it was announced for June 26 to 28 in Tsarevo’s Sea Garden; activities for dogs, children, and families were planned.

The Butamyata–Silistar geological route takes about two hours. The official routes from Ahtopol to the mouth of the Veleka River and from there to Sinemorets are also suitable for mountain biking. They are specified as being 5 km and 8.2 km long, respectively.
