Vladimirovo: Hotels and Accommodation

The Glavantsi Festival plays a central cultural role. It serves to preserve, present and promote Glavantsi cultural heritage as part of Bulgaria’s intangible cultural heritage. At the same time, it is a family and kinship gathering for relatives who have been living apart for decades. In Vladimirovo, descendants of migrants who now live in Dobruja, Silistra, Bessarabia and Ukraine come together.

The first day of the Glavantsi Festival includes a reenactment of the Glavantsi migration to Dobrudja. The Glavantsi performers present authentic clothing and dances associated with the descendants of migrants from Glavan. At the center’s folk instrument school, children are taught mainly to play the bagpipe.

Vladimirovo has an Orthodox Church of Saint Michael the Archangel. Its construction began in 2001, when Metropolitan Kiril laid the foundation stone; it was consecrated on December 14, 2025. The church’s antimins contains a sewn-in relic fragment of an unknown martyr.

An earlier church with the same dedication was damaged by the 1939 earthquake, later abandoned and eventually demolished.

Vladimirovo’s land lies within the Sukhaya Reka protected area, a Dobrudja landscape with river valleys, dry ravines, rocks and cliff bands. Fourteen habitat types as well as several animal and plant species are protected there. Protected species in the Sukhaya Reka zone, which covers Vladimirovo, include the European otter and the European ground squirrel.

Vladimirovo’s village festival was held on the first Saturday in June. During this village festival, visitors were presented with traditional Glavantsi dishes.

Municipal road DOB 1199 connects Zheglartsi, Benkovski and Vladimirovo.
