Culture and Landscape
Vrabtsite is part of the Lyulyatsi area. The remains of Roman fortifications and the Thracian sanctuary known as Moroveshkite Skali are located in this area. The area is described as a landscape with picturesque mountain scenery and panoramic views that support recreation and tourism.
Nature
Lyulyatsi is a protected area established to preserve the characteristic beech forests of the region. The site lies on an 840-metre-high hill with sheer cliffs and lilac bushes.
Lyulyatsi is the starting point for several tourist routes through centuries-old beech forests towards Uzana, Gabrovo and the surrounding villages. The Lyulyatsi recreation area has walking trails. It is also associated with drives to the Uzana area and Etar.
The Debel Dyal–Lyulyatsi nature trail is approximately three kilometres long and connects Lyulyatsi with Debel Dyal. It passes through herb-rich meadows and cool woodland, and by rocky cliffs with lilac bushes and fragrant geraniums. The trail crosses its rocky plateau via stone steps and runs alongside a railing. Along the way, it offers views towards Vitata Stena, Gabrovo and the surrounding region. The trail begins in Debel Dyal or at the Lyulyatsi Hotel, takes about an hour and is marked with signposts. From Debel Dyal, shortly before the midpoint of the trail, there is a shelter with a drinking fountain.
Those wishing to book a hotel in Vrabtsite can continue their accommodation search afterwards. Lyulyatsi has a hotel complex with modern balneotherapy facilities that welcomes guests year-round. Hotel Lyulyatsi offers a restaurant, a café-bar, billiards, table tennis and parking.
Regional Products
Vrabtsite is home to the Skakalovi family dairy farm, which has been operating there for several decades. The farm continues a livestock-raising tradition passed down from generation to generation.
Its product range includes fresh milk, traditional cheeses and Kashkaval. The dairy products are made according to old recipes and are associated with the farmers’ market in Gabrovo.
In February 2024, the family farm in Vrabtsite sold several types of cheese at a farmers’ market, including unsalted cheese. The farm’s livestock is kept freely on the high-mountain pastures of the Stara Planina. The farm has regular local customers.
