Tryavna: Hotels and accommodations

Tryavna features architecture from the Bulgarian National Revival period in its old town, as well as active craft workshops where traditional Tryavna crafts continue to be practiced. A railway line connecting northern and southern Bulgaria runs through Tryavna. Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Tryavna can then continue searching for accommodation.

Culture

In the 19th century, Tryavna had around 40 icon-painting workshops involving entire families. Church services began in the new Church of St. George on December 21, 1852. The Church of St. Michael was rebuilt in 1819 on the site of an earlier church and decorated with woodcarvings and icons by members of the Vitanov family.

The Old Schoolhouse includes a reconstructed classroom from a mutual school, where visitors can write in sand and read at school desks. It also houses an exhibition of historic clocks and a documentary exhibition on the history of education in Tryavna. The Daskalov House contains a reconstructed woodcarving workshop displaying the preparatory work process and carving tools. It also features carved sun ceilings made in 1808 by master craftsman Dimitar Oshanetsa and journeyman Ivan Bochukovetsa.

Nature

Bulgarka Nature Park is a protected area on the ridges and northern slopes of the Central Balkan Mountains above Tryavna. It extends into Tryavna Municipality and includes designated protected areas and natural monuments. Tryavna is an access point to the mountain area of Bulgarka Nature Park. From access points to the nature park, including Tryavna, starting points for tourist, cycling, and eco routes can be reached by car and bus.

Hiking and cycling

The Bazovets Eco Trail is marked in red, has a stated duration of two hours, and begins at the Bazovets stop near Krastets railway station. Along its route, there is a rest shelter with benches and tables. The trail climbs to the 897-meter-high Bazovets summit and continues to a panoramic terrace overlooking mountain hamlets.

There are marked cycling routes around Krastets railway station. The Krastets Eco Trail follows a historic route associated with the transportation of the relics of Saint Ivan of Rila to Tarnovo.
