Momino is the birthplace of the poet and writer Trendafil Vasilev. He wrote twelve volumes of poetry and three volumes of prose. His poetry has been translated into Russian, English, French, Serbian, Greek, and Polish. Momino is described as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for Trendafil Vasilev.

The settlement was renamed from KazÅ­ Mahle to Momino; the corresponding decree was promulgated on December 21, 1906.
