Chiflik: Hotels and Accommodations

The town also provides access to routes leading into Central Balkan National Park and the adjacent Kozya Stena Reserve; edelweiss continues to grow in the reserve.

Nature

Kozya Stena Reserve is located within the territory of Chiflik and covers 904 hectares. It was established in 1987 to protect endangered edelweiss and old beech-fir forests. About 40 plant species listed as rare or endangered are found in the reserve. In addition, about 68 breeding bird species occur there, including rare birds of prey. The reserve is an important passage area for wild goats.

Routes

The route from Chiflik to Haydushka Pesen Hut follows 3.5 km of asphalt road and can be covered on foot, by bicycle, or by car. The marked trail from Haydushka Pesen Hut to Kozya Stena Hut takes 2 hours and 30 minutes and leads through steep terrain with a significant elevation gain. Crossing the reserve on foot is permitted only on marked trails.

Culture

Pottery and artificial burial mounds are cited as indications that a Thracian settlement may have existed in Chiflik. Along the Kamacharska River, millstones, troughs, and other stone objects are produced through stoneworking. Historically, porters from Chiflik transported Troyan ceramics, wooden objects, woven carpets, and blankets to the Aegean, Thrace, and the Danubian Plain.
