History
Mechka has a monument dating from 1900 dedicated to Russian soldiers who died in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878. It is located 1.5 kilometers from the settlement on the road toward Stalpishte.
West of Stalpishte are the remains of the Roman frontier fort Ursus, later known as Trimamium. In the wider regional area around Mechka are the fortress of Cherven and the Muzeul Judeţean Teohari Antonesscu. The area around Mechka also includes the Orthodox church Biserica Ortodoxă Sfântul Pantelimon and the church Biserica Cetăţuia.
