Culture and History

The Chitalishte Vazrazhdane-1922 preserves and promotes traditional customs. The institution was founded in 1922 to foster the education and intellectual and moral development of its members and the village's residents. It hosts weekly creative workshops for children, Bulgarian folk dance classes, and meetings with writers and artists. The folk dance group represents Negushevo with a repertoire of more than 70 folk dances.

The Church of Venerable Paraskeva preserves a collection of old Church Slavonic books; it also houses a small ecclesiastical memorial exhibition. The church gallery contains engravings depicting the Old and New Testaments from 1901.

The “Tree of Life” monument, erected in Negushevo in 2015, preserves the history of the Gorna Malina referendum and is considered a monument to direct democracy in Bulgaria. Negushevo has also been used as a filming location for Bulgarian films and cinematic adaptations.

The Negushevo area preserves the remains of a Thracian sanctuary and a medieval fortress.

Local Life

Landscape

The Negushevo Viewpoint is located on the Rudinata elevation north of the village. From there, it offers a wide view of the village and the surrounding mountains.

The referendum associated with Negushevo is credited with protecting the natural environment of Gorna Malina Municipality and initiating its development as a green municipality.
