Porozina: Hotels and Accommodation

A ferry line connects the Istrian Peninsula with Cres, passing through Porozina. The crossing to Porozina takes 20 minutes. At the port of Porozina, passengers and vehicles are loaded onto and unloaded from RO-RO passenger ships.

Culture and History

On the hill above the Porozina ferry landing are the ruins of the Monastery of St. Nicholas and a Gothic church dating from the 15th century. An ancient lighthouse once stood on this hill above the landing; it was known by the name Pharum insulae.

A church was frequently plundered and almost burned down in the 16th century. The monastery buildings were abandoned in 1843. The surviving walls display architectural features of the Renaissance.

Hiking route 305 runs from Porozina through Tramuntana, Beli and Ivanje, returning to Porozina.
