Stravča: Hotels and accommodations

Culture

The parish of St. George in Stravča dates back to 1620, although some documents place its foundation between 1636 and 1639. The parish church of St. George the Martyr was built in the 16th century and became the parish church after its restoration in 1620. The former parish church was demolished in 1860 and replaced by a new church, which was built in 1872. Restoration work on the Church of St. George in Stravča began in 2012 and involved local residents in work activities.

St. Spas in Stravča is a 17th-century funeral chapel. After it burned down in 1806, it was redesigned in 1880 and restored in 2004.

The Konavoska brda area was formerly connected by railway via Vojski Do; the railway was discontinued on June 28, 1968. A daily bus connection with Cavtat is described for the villages in the Stravča parish area.

Jagnjilo preserves a traditional Konavle agricultural complex with three threshing floors, a barn, an associated dry-stone wall, and a monumental Konavle janik.

Nature

Within the Natura 2000 site HR2000946 Sniježnica and Konavosko polje, the karst springs of Stravča have been identified as suitable habitat for popovska gaovica (Delminichthys ghetaldii). A survey conducted from May to September 2013 recorded the strictly protected and endangered fish popovska gaovica (Delminichthys ghetaldii) in a pond or spring in Stravča.

Near Stravča, the Konavoske stijene educational trail begins in Popovići. It leads for approximately 4 kilometers through overgrown natural landscapes above the cliffs and offers views of the open sea.

Mountains

Sniježnica consists mainly of Jurassic limestone, has a developed karst landscape, and provides a habitat for the endemic mandrake plant.

Sniježnica is a mountain in Konavle. Its summit, Sveti Ilija, reaches 1,234 meters and lies at the tripoint of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro.
