Marusici: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture and History

The Forma Viva sculpture park in Marušići is located next to the cultural centre. It comprises around forty sculptures created in a karst landscape as part of the international Kornarija Summer School of Sculpture.

A short uphill road from Forma Viva Park leads towards Sorbar. There, visitors can see two medieval chapels, including the cemetery chapel of St. Lucia, which contains a 19th-century altarpiece by F. Quajati. The Romanesque Chapel of St. Lucia near Marušići was rebuilt in 1781.

Marušići developed between the 16th and 18th centuries; an older medieval settlement lies farther north. The Pišćaci i gunjci programme combines performances by traditional music groups with Tavolac dancing, a folklore workshop and an exhibition.

Routes

A Parenzana route connects Buje, Kremenje, Momjan, Črnci, Marušići, Sv. Florijan and Triban. The section running through Marušići follows the historic route known as the “Wine Railway”.

Cuisine

Luganigada is a recurring festival in Marušići centred around local sausages. The programme includes Kroštulada, a competition for preparing homemade kroštule. A Luganigada programme also included a recreational cycling tour and a hiking excursion that started in Marušići.

Prvomajska Tripada is an international culinary competition for preparing tripice in Marušići. At Tripada, visitors could sample tripice prepared in various ways after the cooking competition.
