The Parenzana cycling route runs for 80 km from Plovanija via Buje, Grožnjan, Livade, Motovun and Vižinada to PoreÄ. It is classified as an official, easy route and consists of 78 km of macadam and 2 km of asphalt.

Cycling

The Plovanija–Vrsar stage of EuroVelo 8 begins at SeÄovlje/Plovanija, ends in Vrsar and is 72 km long. It is described as having 840 m of total ascent on asphalt and gravel. Immediately after the Plovanija border crossing, EuroVelo 8 turns right off the main road and then climbs gently along the Parenzana route.

The Parenzana cycling route approaches from the area of the Plovanija border crossing. A proposed route begins in Kanegra, follows the yellow markings towards Buje and continues via Kaldanija and Volpija.

Hiking and History

The first Croatian section of the European hiking trail E12 runs from Plovanija to PoreÄ. E12 enters Croatia at the international Plovanija border crossing and follows the former Parenzana railway line as far as Grožnjan.

The 21 Mulino–Kanegra route begins at the Plovanija border crossing near Casino Mulino and follows a macadam road along the Dragonja River. It is 5 km long, takes about 30 minutes and is classified as easy and suitable for families.

Landscape

The Mulino–Kanegra route includes a viewpoint overlooking the SeÄovlje salt pans.

In the wider regional area around Buje, the landscape is undulating and hilly. It includes vineyards, olive groves, agricultural land, oak and pine forests, karst formations and Mediterranean vegetation.
