Kozljak Castle was first documented in the early 12th century under the name Iosilach or Gosilach. It is associated with the medieval name Kožlak and the later German name Wachsenstein.

The Chapel of St. George in the Kozljak cemetery dates from 1590 and contains a tombstone with a Glagolitic inscription. The chapel has been fully restored.
