History
Potpićan is described as the youngest settlement in Istria and was established next to the shaft of a now-closed coal mine. In the 1950s, the settlement was built for miners who worked in the coal mines near Raša. The Dobri Pastir pastoral centre in Potpićan is a more recent building.

The official “Istrian Demarcation” cycling route also includes Potpićan: it follows the Rabac–Potpićan–Kršan–Nedešćina circular route.
