Culture and History

After being settled in the late 17th century, Račišće developed into a maritime center. From the late 19th century until the mid-20th century, its inhabitants owned the largest fleet of small sailing ships on the island.

Two prominent churches are part of the village's appearance: the older Church of “Our Lady Help of Christians” and the parish church of “St. Nicholas,” the patron saint of sailors.
