Lake Mrzla Vodica was created in 1999 through the construction of a dam between Lake Lokvarsko (Lake Omladinsko) and the Mrzla Vodica basin. The two bodies of water are connected to each other and separated by the dam.

When fishing at Lake Mrzla Vodica, the catch-and-release principle applies to all fish species except Prussian carp and pumpkinseed. A day or annual permit is required; fishing for predatory fish from a boat is permitted.
