Drace: Hotels and accommodations

Drače is located in Bratkovica Bay on the northern coast of the Pelješac peninsula and has pebble beaches. Its coastal location connects the village with a landscape in which the sea, paths, and centuries-old local history are closely intertwined.

Geographical setting

Drače can be reached via a local road branching off from the regional road across the Pelješac peninsula. The port of Drače can accommodate smaller yachts at water depths of 1.3 to 3 meters and is protected by a breakwater.

Nature

The municipality of Janjina includes part of the special marine reserve of Malostonski Bay and Malo More; the part located within the municipality covers 921.8 hectares. The landscape of Drače features centuries-old cypresses, olive trees, agaves, and flowers.

Trails

Walking Trail 5 leads from Drače to Janjina and back to Drače. It runs along the entire coastal side of Drače and passes Stuvid Bay. Along the way, it leads through the olive groves of Janjina and low Dalmatian maquis.

Walking Trail 6 follows the Sreser–Drače–Sreser route. Through Drače, it runs along a waterfront promenade designed for pedestrians in the direction of Sreser. The surroundings of Drače are suitable for walking as well as exploring centuries-old settlements and their traditions. Drače also has field paths and cycling trails.

History and everyday life

The Chapel of Saint Nicholas on the Dežulović estate dates from 1882. The Church of Saint Roch in Drače was built in 1936 with a contribution from Jozo Kalafatović. Drače has been recorded as the port of Janjina on Malo More since 1843.

Traditional forms of employment in Drače include agriculture, viticulture, and fishing.

The Konoba Dalmatinska Kuća in Drače, located directly by the sea, serves locally sourced fish and shellfish.
