Culture

Osobjava’s documented heritage includes the Church of Our Lady of Good Health, the ruins and remains of the Church of St. Martin with stećci, Stinjiva Fortress, and the site of the Villa rustica near Pod Starinama.

Osobjava is documented in a land charter from 1392. Stinjiva was already inhabited in the 14th century. In 1464, a family from the area around Konjic settled in Osobjava.

Today’s settlement of Osobjava developed more strongly after the arrival of refugees. Its settlement history includes refugees from the Neretva region and Herzegovina, as well as citizens of Dubrovnik who left Brštanik and Driva before the advance of the Ottomans.

The two founding settlements of Osobjava are Osobjava and Stinjiva. Beside the road in Osobjava, a damaged column that was made for the Rector’s Palace of Dubrovnik still stands. Croatian-English information boards have been installed next to the Church of Our Lady of Good Health in Osobjava.
