The first written mention of Čakov dates from 1226 – a specific starting point for the history of the village.

Culture and History

The former fortress above Čakov and Tatouňovice was finally destroyed around 1420; defensive embankments have survived. The chapel “Kaplička Panny Marie (Čakov)” is also located in Čakov.

Nature and Landscape

The local LBK 4 “Ostředecký potok” biocorridor runs through the valley of the “Ostředecký potok” stream and includes the watercourse, riparian and accompanying vegetation, as well as the valley floodplain. The biocorridor is also part of Čakov’s land-use plan.

In the vicinity of Čakov are Horka Hill [Chocerady-Vestec], Bílč Hill [Vodslivy] and Krásná hora Hill [Petroupim]. In the wider regional area around Čakov are the Loreta Church and Žebrák Mountain.

Cycling route 0073 is suitable for all types of bicycles. “Firefighters’ Day” has been held annually since 2010.
