Bělá pod Bezdězem is home to Bělský Castle, which was built between 1582 and 1615 on the site of an earlier castle or fortress. It houses the Muzeum Podbezdězí, a branch of the Muzeum Mladoboleslavska. There is also an information centre with exhibitions and a tour of the castle. In the exhibition on the Bělá manufactory, visitors can try out the role of an apprentice at spinning wheels, a loom and a printing press.

Culture and History

The Česká brána is one of the original gates that served as an entrance to Bělá pod Bezdězem. It was extensively renovated in 2004; its accessible interior houses a gallery.

The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross features a 14th-century Pietà carving and preserves a sacristy in the original Gothic style with a cross vault. The complex comprising the Augustinian monastery and the Church of St. Wenceslas in Bělá pod Bezdězem dates back to the founding of a monastery in 1345 by Hynek Berka z Dubé for members of the Order of St. Augustine.

Nature and Trails

The Bělá Arboretum is a collection of living woody plants in the form of a dendrological garden. Route 3045 runs from Bělá pod Bezdězem to Jablonné v Podještědí.
