Culture and history

The Minoritský klášter Nanebevzetí Panny Marie is a Gothic monument. Assemblies were held in the monastery in 1451 and 1473, including one attended by Queen Joanna.

The collection of the Muzeum umění a designu Benešov focuses on Czech artists and designers from the second half of the 20th century to the present day, with an emphasis on regional art. The museum has a permanent exhibition of regional art and offers public art workshops as part of its programme.

Experimenta is an exhibition beneath Benešov’s town hall. The exhibition “Náš pluk” at the Benešov branch of the Muzeum Podblanicka is dedicated to the Benešov garrison around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Nature and trails

Konopišťský park is open to the public year-round and contains 158 species of deciduous trees and 68 species of conifers.

The Růžová zahrada in Konopiště includes greenhouses with thermophilic and subtropical plants, a cork pavilion and sculptural features.

Konopiště can be reached from Benešov via a tourist route approximately 2 km long.
