Culture and history
Jemniště Chateau was completed in October 1725 based on a design by the Czech architect František Maxmilián Kaňka. It can only be visited as part of a guided tour, which lasts approximately 50 minutes.
The so-called Old Chateau in Jemniště originated from a stone water castle. It stood by a pond that supplied its moats with water.
The oldest part of the Church of St. Martin in Postupice dates from before or around 1250. Of the original Gothic church, only the chancel has survived; its eastern window still features Gothic tracery. The two-nave main body has a barrel vault with lunettes. The main body and tower date from a Baroque reconstruction carried out in 1718.
Nature
The Jemniště park was created around 1725 by František Adam Trauttmansdorff. At the end of the 18th century, Jindřich Rottenhan made significant changes to its design and planting; the original formal French garden was partly redesigned and extended by a naturalistic landscape park. The park covers 13 hectares and includes a system of three ponds.
Cuisine
The Jemniště picnic offering includes 120 g of game sausage with a pickle and bread; the sausage is roasted and served cold. It also includes 150 g of house-smoked venison or wild boar haunch with horseradish, mustard, a pickle and bread.
Cycling
Cycle route 0072 runs between Český Šternberk and Postupice.
