Chocerady: Hotels and accommodations

Chocerady lies on the banks of the Sázava.

Culture and history

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands in Chocerady’s village square and is originally Gothic. On the northern side of the presbytery is a column altar from 1750 with an image of the Infant Jesus of Prague. A rectory dating from 1705 stands nearby.

Komorní Hrádek features Renaissance and Baroque building phases and is generally not open to the public. Once a year, as part of European Heritage Days, Komorní Hrádek holds an open day. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity in Komorní Hrádek was consecrated on 15 February 2012.

Loreta is a former pilgrimage chapel in the forest below Vrážský vrch, near Komorní Hrádek. It was founded in 1765 and visited by processions from the wider surrounding area. The former pilgrimage chapel was converted into a mausoleum in the Neo-Renaissance style in 1873.

Čejchanov is an archaeological site with castle ruins on a promontory on the left bank of the Sázava.

Paths and railways

The ruins of Čejchanov Castle can be reached from the road via a path along the fence of the chateau grounds or via a path from Chocerady railway station running along the railway line towards Hvězdonice.

Chocerady railway stop is located on the Čerčany–Světlá nad Sázavou line.

Marked routes

Marked cycle route No. 19 runs through the Chocerady area along an existing local road on the right bank of the Sázava. A red-marked hiking trail leads from Benešov via Loreta and a bridge to Chocerady. A second red-marked hiking trail runs along the right bank of the Sázava from Čerčany towards Sázava and joins the route in Chocerady. The blue-marked hiking trail leads from the signpost at Mount Chlum to the centre of Chocerady and ends at the junction with the yellow- and red-marked hiking trail.

Leisure

At house No. 117 in Chocerady, there is a hedge maze for children and adults. It can be visited at any time throughout the year, preferably by prior arrangement.
