Dolany: Hotels and Accommodation

Dolany lies on the left bank of the Vltava, where the rocky Vltava valley ends and the flatter landscape begins towards the confluence of the Vltava and Elbe rivers. In front of the village, at the point where the Vltava branches, is the Dolany weir with a power station.

At the upper and lower lock approaches of the Dolánky lock, recreational boats can safely moor along the bank at the designated waiting areas while waiting to pass through the lock.

Water Management and History

The Dolany waterworks was built in 1901 as part of the Vltava waterway between Prague and Mělník. It originally consisted of a fixed weir and a sector gate weir with folding weir arms, as well as a lock chamber in a lock canal on the right bank of the Vltava. The Libčice hydroelectric power station uses the hydroelectric potential of Dolany’s movable weir.

The history of the village also includes Dolany Fortress, first mentioned in 1406. In Debrno, the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas dates from 1674; it is a protected cultural monument.
